Speaker A:

Songs that give us main character energy.

Speaker B:

We're here to sift through the chaos that is our TBR and to let.

Speaker A:

You know why a book might just be your next favorite.

Speaker B:

Ready?

Speaker B:

I'm Britt, dramatic plot twist lover and champion for MMCs needing to be more Pathetic and down bad.

Speaker A:

And I'm Hannah Reader, released five books at once and a detailed fantasy map enthusiast.

Speaker B:

Every Wednesday, press play on a brand.

A shining five stars on your preferred platform and helps us so much with visibility.

Speaker A:

This week we're going to go over some of the things that we are thankful for this year.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And they are all bookish related.

Speaker B:

For the most part.

Speaker B:

We're just having fun.

Speaker B:

It's a.

Speaker B:

It's a nice little episode before the American Thanksgiving takes place.

Speaker B:

So we hope you guys enjoy and go ahead and grab yourselves an iced coffee or iced chai and let's turn the page together.

Speaker A:

Dear Reader, we will not be going over books mentioned in detail.

Speaker A:

We might be talking about details of certain books, but if you know, you know.

Speaker A:

So please look up any trigger warnings before diving into any of the titles that we mentioned mention.

Speaker B:

Yeah, and I just have to throw out there that if you don't understand the reference to the book, chances are we have absolutely mentioned it in another episode.

Speaker B:

Or also just like leave a comment and ask us what book it is if you're interested in the vibes, because some of these are a little specific.

Speaker B:

But let's start broad.

Speaker B:

Let's start general.

Speaker A:

Thankful for audiobooks.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So thankful for audiobooks.

Speaker B:

The next one.

Speaker B:

Obviously thankful for authors because we wouldn't have all of these amazing books without the incredible authors of the story.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

And thankful for libraries giving us access to all of these books.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

Please go get a library card if you don't have one and you have access to a local library.

Speaker B:

On that same topic, we're thankful for sprayed edges.

Speaker B:

But like the fancy, like the real.

Speaker A:

The crisp, the beautiful night in the moss, Catabasis.

Speaker B:

So good.

Speaker B:

So good.

Speaker A:

Always thankful for shadows and morally great men that can wield them.

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

And on the flip side of that, we are thankful for unicorn floaties and raccoons if you know, you know.

Speaker A:

I'm thankful for the author L. Frank Baum for writing the wizard of Oz so that we can have Jonathan Bailey as Fiero today.

Speaker B:

That's a good one.

Speaker B:

That's a good one.

Speaker B:

I just saw a TikTok of him surprising his sister in the theater and he, like, watched it with everyone.

Speaker B:

And my favorite feature on TikTok now is that we can add reaction pictures and all of them were like the Happy for you.

Speaker B:

Thankful for ice cream because it helps soothe chili burns in undesirable places.

Speaker B:

Again, if you know, you know.

Speaker A:

Thankful for sororities and wellness routines that don't involve cannibalism.

Speaker B:

We love.

Speaker B:

And we are also thankful for Hollywood adapting books into movies.

Speaker B:

There are so many that we are looking forward to.

Speaker B:

Cannot wait.

Speaker A:

I'm thankful for graduate students descending into hell and back.

Speaker A:

Hashtag dark academia that I have not participated in.

Speaker B:

But I'm so glad that it makes Hannah thankful now.

Speaker B:

Something that I know that we're both thankful for.

Speaker B:

Thankful for Gargoyle.

Speaker B:

Mm.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Thankful for indie bookstores.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Thankful for Hamich Abernathy and.

Speaker B:

And the Hunger Games editors on Tick Tock.

Speaker B:

The devil works hard, but they work harder.

Speaker B:

I'm sorry if we thought Kris Jenner was the hardest working person in the world.

Speaker B:

Step aside.

Speaker B:

It's the Hunger Games editors on Tick Tock.

Speaker A:

Yeah, you sent me all of those back to back.

Speaker A:

So good.

Speaker A:

All so good.

Speaker B:

The way that I've been sobbing over this trailer.

Speaker B:

Anyway, we're very thankful for it.

Speaker A:

Thankful for fake dating on a reality competition show.

Speaker B:

We sure are.

Speaker B:

It's that same kind of vein, but not at all.

Speaker B:

Thankful for slutty crop tops and nose rings.

Speaker A:

Dusty.

Speaker B:

Dusty.

Speaker A:

Something I never thought would be on here for us, but this year we are thankful for second chance romances.

Speaker B:

I've been converted.

Speaker B:

Been converted.

Speaker B:

And another thing, side note.

Speaker A:

I've read some really good ones, though.

Speaker B:

Some.

Speaker A:

Before I let go Left of forever.

Speaker A:

Yes, those are just the first two.

Speaker B:

That pop in my head, but they are so good.

Speaker B:

Rewind it back by Liz Tom 40.

Speaker B:

Hannah has not read it yet, but I.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

It's a good one.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So good.

Speaker B:

And oh, also one of the best books that we read this year.

Speaker B:

One of the coolest books that we read.

Speaker B:

We are so thankful for salt and food that brings back loved ones.

Speaker B:

And this is another one I feel like we have to shout out.

Speaker B:

And this is Aftertaste by Daria Lavelle.

Speaker B:

And if you've never read a speculative fiction before, it's like a paranormal fiction.

Speaker B:

It was so good.

Speaker B:

And the audiobook is phenomenal.

Speaker B:

So if you're interested in a book about food that brings loved ones back from the dead for one last meal, please go check it out.

Speaker B:

It's her debut novel and it was spectacular.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Also thankful for alien sightings and influencers and love it for sighting.

Speaker B:

Yes, exactly.

Speaker B:

Exactly.

Speaker B:

Thankful for late night radio shows that take callers.

Speaker A:

And thankful for Zaden Ryerson.

Speaker B:

Listen, I will.

Speaker B:

I will defend.

Speaker B:

I will defend forever the honor of Onyx Storm this year.

Speaker A:

I never thought somebody would dethrone he who must not be named, because I don't even want to talk about him anymore.

Speaker B:

I know.

Speaker A:

Because of Zaden and somebody else.

Speaker B:

Correct.

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker B:

Are we really that much?

Speaker A:

Yeah, he is.

Speaker B:

Like, I'm.

Speaker B:

I'm excited now, so.

Speaker B:

Something a little different, though.

Speaker B:

I'm so thankful for chicken shop date and how it evolved into shoving hot dogs down your gullet in a rom com.

Speaker B:

It's so good.

Speaker A:

I'm thankful for in person book signings and events.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

Just have to mention we got to go to some author signings this year.

Speaker B:

And we got to see Geneva Rose together.

Speaker B:

And then Hannah got to see Ellie Palmer and Tara DeWitt.

Speaker B:

Bitch, she got a book signed for me.

Speaker B:

It's fine.

Speaker B:

And then.

Speaker B:

And then we got to interview both Tara and Ellie.

Speaker B:

So it did kind of work out.

Speaker B:

And then I got to see Lila Sage and Jillian Meadows and we also had our own very first ever live event.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

So fun.

Speaker B:

So fun.

Speaker B:

Thankful for the forest scene.

Speaker B:

And I'm.

Speaker B:

I'm sure there are a lot of forest scenes, but if you guys know, you know the book that we're talking about, you have to.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I. Yeah, he's up there too.

Speaker A:

Also thankful for a very, very small niche indie film Han Montana movie, which I finally saw this year for inspiring.

Speaker A:

Love is a War Song by Dana Canava.

Speaker B:

Incredible.

Speaker B:

I'm thankful for fake marriages in summer camps.

Speaker A:

I need to read that book.

Speaker B:

You do.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

Listen, I know that it's like not exactly your vibe, but I'm telling you that, like, when you go in to a Megan Quinn book, you just have to go in with the fact that, like, some of it's going to be like over the top cringy, and that is.

Speaker B:

That's the target.

Speaker B:

It's so good.

Speaker A:

I'm thankful for Nadir.

Speaker B:

Listen, I.

Speaker B:

So far where I am on my journey with this trial of the Sun Queen, I have only gotten like four of his chapters and I have no idea what's going on.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I can't wait.

Speaker B:

I am thankful for Rio de Luca.

Speaker B:

Hannah will be thankful for Rio de Luca.

Speaker B:

Don't worry.

Speaker A:

I will be eventually thankful for plus size FMCs and positive representation.

Speaker A:

We've had some good ones this year.

Speaker B:

For that, so we absolutely have thankful for horror and hallucinations.

Speaker B:

I've been reading a lot of horror books lately and man, is this a genre that I like.

Speaker B:

I don't love the gory horror.

Speaker B:

Like, I'm fine with gore.

Speaker B:

There's a difference.

Speaker B:

But man, did I read some really banging horror books this year.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I feel like I read some decent ones too.

Speaker A:

I read like a horror comedy recently that was a lot of fun.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Thankful for each other.

Speaker A:

Thankful for you.

Speaker A:

So thankful for you listeners.

Speaker B:

Thankful for everyone.

Speaker B:

And we're thankful for the podcast software allowing us to make the show.

Speaker B:

Thank you so much for the technology that we use, all of that fun stuff.

Speaker B:

Yeah, we're gonna get really deep.

Speaker A:

Thank you for the tree that got turned into paper into my favorite book.

Speaker B:

Thank you for your sacrifice.

Speaker B:

Thank you to the carpal tunnel tunnel that the author developed while writing my favorite book.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

Thankful for the Cheeto dust that Tara DeWitt keeps on her fingers while she writes emotional banger after emotional banger.

Speaker B:

I feel like, oh, I do want to shout out very, very thankful to the authors.

Speaker B:

Not only the ones that we read, but the ones that, like, come on and talk with us about their work.

Speaker B:

And we're just two, we're just two reader girlies from Michigan and we've gotten to talk to some of the coolest authors.

Speaker B:

We talked to Daria Lavelle this year.

Speaker B:

We talked to Keely Smith for a second time this year.

Speaker B:

We talked to Mallory Marlo for a second time this year.

Speaker B:

We mentioned Tara DeWitt.

Speaker B:

We just had Ellie Palmer.

Speaker B:

And then probably, I was going to say probably one of the funniest people I've ever met in my life is Danica Naba.

Speaker B:

Indie authors.

Speaker B:

Like we had.

Speaker B:

We've just so many incredible people sharing their work with us.

Speaker B:

Very thankful for that.

Speaker A:

Short and sweet.

Speaker B:

Short and sweet.

Speaker B:

What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish, aside from mashed potatoes?

Speaker B:

Because we know mashed potatoes is your favorite food as like a general whole, like on the food pyramid.

Speaker B:

It's just mashed potatoes.

Speaker A:

It is.

Speaker A:

I would have to say pumpkin pie.

Speaker B:

Okay, I'm going for dessert.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker B:

I'm not a pie girly, but I respect the pumpkin hustle, you know?

Speaker A:

Mm.

Speaker B:

I love, I love me some appetizers, but I am a green bean casserole, bitch.

Speaker B:

And I love some stuffing.

Speaker B:

Give me some stuff like a good stuffing.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And go Lions.

Speaker A:

So fun fact if you didn't know the Lions have Lions play every year on Thanksgiving.

Speaker A:

So growing up we were never a football family and but on Thanksgiving you always watch Lions.

Speaker B:

You have to, without a doubt, every single time.

Speaker B:

But yeah, we hope everyone has a phenomenal Thanksgiving.

Speaker B:

And please drop a comment about what you're thankful for bookish wise.

Speaker B:

This year we've definitely missed probably a bunch of stuff, but you know, we just wanted to do a cute little like fun episode just showing our thanks to one of our favorite things which is books.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

We wouldn't be here without it.

Speaker A:

So thank you so much for turning the pages with us this week.

Speaker A:

We are so thankful for you.

Speaker A:

Speaker B:

Speaker B:

Speaker A:

And next week we are diving back into a fantasy world which we haven't done in a while, and we are discussing Trial of the Sun Queen by Nisha J. Tooley.

Speaker B:

So excited to talk about that.

Speaker A:

Even though I've about finished with the series and Brits hasn't read the first book.

Speaker B:

Don't.

Speaker B:

No, listen, hold on.

Speaker B:

This is the first time the rules are reversed.

Speaker B:

Okay?

Speaker B:

This is the the first time the rules are reversed.

Speaker B:

Well, not the first, but like in terms of series like that we're covering.

Speaker B:

Yeah, like at least like a recent one because like you got me back into it and then all of a sudden I like overtook you.

Speaker B:

But it's fine, it's fine.

Speaker B:

I can't wait to talk about it next week on December 3rd.

Speaker B:

So forever and always keep reading with kindness.

Speaker B:

Bye everyone.

Speaker A:

See ya.
